Yulzari is a classically trained bassist, studying first in France, then earning his Artists Diploma from the Juilliard School. It was fun the entire time we were improvising, and I felt myself listening and thinking differently after this class.ģ-5pm - Double Bass Masterclass - Room 404 Eastman School Remy gives great guidance that players at all levels can relate to, and uses it help build our listening and our technique as we make our way through different modes and scale patterns. Honestly, last year when he hosted this improv class, little Classical me said "I can't improvise." and learned that anyone CAN do this. Please check out this schedule and attend what works for your schedule and your life as a musician: Norris is a NYSSMA (New York State School Music Association) adjudicator for both brass and jazz, and is currently serving as the NYSSMA Conference All-State Jazz Chair. He has also worked with student teachers in the music education program at Hartwick College since 1987. Norris also serves Hartwick College as an adjunct professor, where he teaches brass methods to future music education majors. He was also a guest conductor at the Hartwick College Summer Music Festival. Norris has been a guest conductor for music festivals in Chenango, Delaware and Fulton Counties in New Nork, as well as Berks County, PA. He is chapter advisor to the Sidney High School Tri-M Music Honor Society. Among his responsibilities are directing the senior high concert band, stage band, jazz combo and marching band, as well as teaching classes in music theory and music appreciation. He has been the senior high band director in the Sidney Central School District since 1985. Gregg Norris earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Music Education from Hartwick College (Oneonta, NY) in 1984, and his Master’s Degree in Social Sciences from Binghamton University in 1991.
